The Consultation
The first appointment usually lasts about an hour, during which a full medical history will be taken and detailed questions will be asked about your diet, lifestyle, personal habits and sleeping patterns. All information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Diagnostic techniques such as tongue, pulse and iris examination are also used. If needed pathology tests such as blood, urine, hair or stool analysis may be recommended.
Treatment plans and prescriptions are tailored to suit the individual.
Cleansing or detox may be necessary and this may be achieved through fasting, juice diets or by a herbal formula.
The patient will be given a detailed diet sheet recommending foods that should be avoided or decreased, as well as foods that should be increased in the diet. There will also be lifestyle recommendations and advice on other disciplines such as hydrotherapy, exercise and relaxation techniques.
In some cases the patient may also be referred to their GP or other practitioners as part of an integrated health care approach.
In most cases a herbal formula will be prescribed. I use organic herbs, often biodynamic and of the highest quality. The herbal formula will usually be in tincture form and herbs to be taken as a tea may also be prescribed.
The area covered by Naturotherapy for the most part consists of The North West of England (based in Lancaster) and as far North as South Cumbria, however please feel free to call and see if you are within range. Call 07779 574061
The Follow-up appointment
Treatment plans and prescriptions are likely to change as the patient begins to return to health and the vital force becomes stronger. We will discuss improvements in your health, looking back at the symptoms discussed in the first consultation. A new prescription will be formulated to reflect the changes.
A herbal formula may change at every consultation adapting to different needs. Follow-up appointments are recommended at monthly intervals although ideally the first follow-up would be two weeks after the initial consultation.
